Mid West Fabricating Company is a family owned corporation that was started in 1945 by Stanton Johns and Robert Kinkaid. The company started in Columbus, Ohio manufacturing lawn and garden tools and automobile parts. In 1946, the company moved to Amanda and Kinkaid sold his interest to Herb Orr. Stanton Johns and Herb Orr became an approved supplier for General Motors. In 1953, Herb Orr sold his stake in the company to Stanton Johns.
At the request of General Motors, Mid West started a west coast division in Southern California in 1961. This cold heading division located in Lancaster, Ohio supplies a variety of specialty fasteners for the highway, utility and housing markets.
